A big milestone for the MINT study

Article featured image

After nearly four years of coordinated, hands on work across sites and functions, the MINT study has reached database lock, marking the successful close of the study database and the transition to formal analysis. This is a pivotal step for this academically sponsored, investigator initiated trial that began in 2021 to study the treatment of childhood obesity.

What makes this milestone particularly meaningful is the broad, long-term collaboration behind it. From early planning through execution, colleagues have contributed expertise in project leadership, data management, monitoring, site operations, statistics, and quality assurance. During the final stretch, the clean file effort brought the team together to resolve outstanding items with focus, collaboration and true cross-functional teamwork.

Above all, we are grateful to the children and families who participated. Their involvement is the foundation of this study, and every effort invested—every visit, every query, every data point—ultimately serves the goal of generating high quality evidence for better pediatric care.

As we mark this milestone, we also want to highlight the important role of our Principal Investigator, Anders Forslund, Associate Professor and Pediatrician at Uppsala University Hospital. His leadership, continuity, and commitment have been central to the study’s progress.

Here is how he describes the collaboration throughout the study:

“The team is knowledgeable, accommodating, and we always get the help we need. Because pharmaceutical studies are often long, we work closely together throughout extended periods, and the collaboration has been very smooth.”
— Anders Forslund, Associate Professor & Pediatrician, Uppsala University Hospital

This sentiment reflects what many of us have experienced firsthand: that truly collaborative teamwork is what makes complex studies like MINT possible. A sincere thank you to everyone who has contributed over the years—your dedication has brought us to this important point, and we are excited for the next chapter.
