We are excited to share that an investigator-initiated study, led by Erik Osterman and Fredrik Linder, is now underway at Uppsala University Hospital (Akademiska sjukhuset).

The study aims to investigate negative pressure wound therapy on wound complication rates in patients undergoing emergency laparotomy incisions—an area where enhanced incision care approaches can make a meaningful difference.

Recruitment has already started at Akademiska sjukhuset, marking a strong start with the first 26 patients enrolled. Over the coming weeks, five additional sites are expected to open for recruitment, further expanding the study’s reach.

Continuously evaluating and improving healthcare practices is essential for achieving better patient outcomes and higher patient satisfaction. Initiatives like this play a vital role in advancing clinical care.

We truly value the close and efficient collaboration with both the investigators and Mölnlycke Health Care, which has been key in bringing this study to life.
